So it is the start of term 3- we will be using the Blogs a bit more this term-
This term will also have an LES/ES which will cover the topics of New Media, Flash and Film. It will take place at the end of February- just before the March Break! This way when it gets to the end of the term there will be less pressure- though you will have your Integrated project due at that time.
If there are any questions- feel free to ask or come by for Recoup- Tues., Wed., Thurs. until 3:30 unless more time is needed.
This Week No Homework.

Homework- blog response
Respond to two (2) of the following three question sets on your blog. The work is due Tuesday at 12:00.
Christof
We've become tired of watching actors give us phony emotions, bored with pyrotechnics and special effects.
While the world he inhabits is counterfeit, there's nothing fake about Truman himself. No scripts, no cue cards. It's not always Shakespeare but it's genuine.
- Have we reached this point in our "entertainment experience"; where we are tired of the fake and need the "real"?
- With films like Avatar- using completely created characters, 3D animation, CGI, etc.- is there a point where we, like Truman, can no longer believe the created reality?
- Is Truman's whole world fake or is it real? Is What Christof says above true or is he just justifying the world he has created?

Happy New Year!
Well we'll be back to work in a couple of days.
This is a reminder to all of you that have due dates for your projects coming up- do not forget!
We'll have a pretty easy week doing some film appreciation! And then we'll be working further with film and Flash getting those Logo Applications sorted.
Again Happy New Year and look forward to seeing you all on the 4th!

Distances in Advertising Design
Whether it is a television ad, one in a magazine or a billboard on the side of a bus, marketers and advetisers try to get their product to you. One of the basic concepts is how close the product is to you. The closer the product the "friendlier" it is. There are three types of distances:
- Social distance: This is the distance that is most comfortable in a public space (distance btw people/objects being 4ft or more; you can see a the whole person).
- Personal distance: This is the distance often referred to as personal space. This can change depending on what culture you are from, but for the most part it is btw 4ft and 18 inches; you can see a person from the waist up (1/2 of the person) and should be able to comfrotably hear them if talking.
- Intimate distance: Less then 18 inches. This distance is considered private space- the distance reserved for friends and family; those things that are very familiar (i.e. food/eating, kissing, examining something very small, etc.)
